Mile Mania

Today I got a mail from some airline company saying that if I join their Red Carpet Club, I get 500 miles. Of curiosity I follow the link, go through the form and checking the fine print info at the end with ** That reads $500 is the annual membership fee. Wow! There was a time I was crazy of accruing frequent-flier miles. I have my colleague who has over 100,000 miles from an airline but believe it he traveled less than 10,000 miles. All the miles through bonus miles only. I don't know if true but I enjoy reading the website that talks about several ways to get miles (Gary's Free Frequent Miles)

One of my friend has a hobby of switching long distance carriers just to get miles. While I do not want to comment on this, I am surprised at the money he is spending to get the miles. I feel the real concept is to encourage people to fly.

And flying is more fun!
