Trip to DC
It all went into a plan in an evening. Why not take a day off and visit DC and vicinity. My wife had never been there to DC and so we planned for a day in DC, a day in Baltimore and a day Luray Caverns in Virginia.
DC was good visiting the Cherry Blossom - white and pink everywhere. The Tidal Basin looked splendid with Cherry Trees as a border. Cannot forget the evening when we were lost in 495 and had to travel for an hour more to reach the hotel. 495 is always confusing for me :-(
Baltimore was another fun watching fishes and whales. The nearby harbor had warships and submarines. Had a chance to see a submarine for the first time.
But the best part of the day was the surprise visit of Vishy - my best friend - from Pittsburg. Incidentally it was my birthday and spent in one of my most favorite restaurants - Tara Thai. Wonderful evening!
Luray was different seeing nature in its own charms. The formations millions of years old and more than 500 marriages held inside the caverns. The best part was the musical stone play. One person had found that rocks to make sound when stricken and he could play a song even out of that. Thanks to technology, today we can hear well amplified.
Can you believe that Luray is the 5th largest caverns in US? I thought it would be the 1st seeing its mammoth size. 1st one is in Switzerland it seems - might have to dig out the deeply formed ice to get in there I guess :-)
Paradoxes of life?
