Kamal & Hollywood

Heard through friends that the following movies were remade in Tamil:
  1. Sathi Leelavathi from She Devil
  2. Magalir Mattum from 9 to 5
  3. Avvai Shanmughi from Mrs.Doubtfire
  4. Panchathanthiram from ???
  5. Anbe Sivam from Planes, Trains and Automobiles
  6. Nala Dhamayanthi from Green Card
It is really surprising to know that why should such a great actor like Kamal should do this? Getting inspired is different and ultalakkadi is different.

Kamal you are a great actor - no questions asked - you too?

A R Rehman and Carnatic Music

AR Rehman's career in film industry started with controversy when his first album - Roja - had a song in Kaapi. But nevertheless he composed several songs based on pure raagas - Anandha Bairavi, Maandu, Dharmavathi and many more. I remember what Rehman said once in an interview that his best work was the movie "Duet". Incidentally most of the songs in the movie are based on carnatic raagas.

Check here for a collection of some of his songs based on raagas. Good work Prabhu!

My friend and her hair

One of my friend had serious problem with her hair. She started having dandruff and tried with Head and Shoulder. Not happy with it, she went to over-the-counter stuff "Selsun Blue". Someone told her that it is too strong and she stopped that. It did not help her anyway.

When consulted with Dermatologist, was told to try a drug called "Capex". It neither gave itch free nor any froth. Since it did not work, was suggested to use Neutrogena's T-Gel. T-Gel seemed to work but since it has Coal Tar, it really stinks and also continuous usage could potentially lead to cancer.

She was told by a saloonist to try a new shampoo and conditioner - Redken. This time she was told that it is a milder one that can cure psoriasis also. I don't know if it does but it did cost heaven.

Now she is suggested another medicine and she is trying it too. Poor girl! I am praying for her early recovery!
