What are you allergic to? :-)

Are you allergic to any - apart from people or wifes or work :-)) Well, to get answers on the long standing and nagging issue I have been having for several years, I thought will visit the ENT specialist. My wife was tired of my mornings and at times at night me sneezing multiple time and blowing my nose. Pollen season was the high-light with me taking Zyrtec in the morning Allegra in the night and Flonase spray to clear my nose and to feel better my running or congested nose and itchy, watery, red eyes. Oh boy! real pain. The ENT specialist checked for Sinus and confirming that I do not have one, suggested to do an allergy test to understand what is going on.

After a week, I visited again for the allergy test. I was expecting that they will put me in a long chamber like CT Scan and blow different allergens and make me sneeze but believe technology has not gone that far. They said they will do a prick test injecting serums at the skin level. It did not hurt much initially but after a while, I really felt as the count increased. The result was pretty much instantaneous and after around an hour with 30+ tests, the test concluded saying I am pretty much allergic both outdoor and indoor - mold, mildew, dust, dust mite, all types of grass, trees and most interesting was allergic to Cockroach too :-)

Ok! What do we do now? Is there a treatment? Well anti-histamines could help as needed but is there another way? Doctor suggested another one - where we take shots for an year but every week. Well its not a medicine to fight rather be part of it. The shot basically injects a small portion of the allergy causing stuff to the body and over a period of time, the body gets used to it. Sounds interesting but am worried about the commitment for an year - every week. Need to think over. We were worried to see swollen hand for couple of days after the test but was told this should disappear as at the end they gave the suppressant.

But the tips on improving the air quality indoor really helps now - we replaced the existing filters with allergen filters - though a bit more expensive, helps me a lot. The other option could be to buy a air purifier like the one from Sharper Image.

Well thought share the good news with you all :-)
