have been seeing commercials on the TV on Dish and Cable. Colleagues and
Friends also used to talk about this. My brother also has been very
influential these days highlighting the advantages of Dish over Cable. At last, I decided to give it a shot. The simplest deal was to get everything free but for a 12 month commitment. So I don't lose anything by installing but for some space in my patio. That should be ok, I thought. Well on the monthly charges - after getting credits - I pay almost half the price I pay for cable for more channels. That too with a digital quality. Of course, I cannot conclude unless I see the performance on a rainy day :-) But so far, I can clearly say Dish beats the Cable easily. Disclaimer: I do not work for Cable or Dish or I do not represent them. The comments are purely mine. Check for yourself for deals. |

In my school days my elder brother - Kannan - used to tell about Bermuda Triangle that exists
somewhere in the Atlantic where ships or flights that crossed were lost
totally. No trace to find and still a mystery. I used to get so excited to
hear that and wonder if such a thing exists. Today I had a chance to watch a documentary on this - courtesy Discovery Channel. Very nicely taken and lot of information. Best part was the interaction with Gian Quassar, the expert on this subject (Check it at http://www.bermuda-triangle.org) The website is quite informative with lot of input on the subject. Good work! The triangle basically exists between Florida and Bermuda in multiples numbers in the Atlantic and so not a single hard-lined triangle. The experience shared by a pilot entering a spiral was amazing. It is indeed a mystery why the US government still does not accept this as a mystery :-) |

| Extreme Surgeries | |
|
Another interesting program I watched was on Extreme Surgeries - courtesy
Discovery Health. It talked about giving shape and life back to people who
have lost in some kind of accidents through the technology - Prosthetics -
branch of medicine dealing with artificial body parts. The parts created
were so real that one can hardly make out. More than limbs and ears, I was impressed with the craftsmanship involved in making the eyes. What a perfection?! All hand-made. I recall the professional wax models they do in the Madam Tussads' Wax Museum. A few days ago I had a chance to watch the complete making of a wax model of an athlete from the London Museum. Too real to not to believe! Whatever technology comes, arts are going to have its own place, I am sure! |

| Shankar Mahadevan - A great singer | |
|
Although heard about the famous album in Hindi, I could appreciate this
singer the best when I heard the song 'Varaga Nadhikkara Oram'. It was a
very interesting situation when I heard the song first too - on a trip from
Madras to Trichy - in Pallavan Express, a group of students singing in a
chorus - Wow! Another best is the excellent performance 'Sandhana Thendralay'
in 'Kandukonden Kandukonden'. No wonder he got the national award for this. Shankar has a tremendous skill of taking both high and low pitch at ease and holding the breathe. It is not fair if the song ---- from Pukar is not mentioned. A great singer, really! |
