As part of the trip to Las Vegas, we also planned for a trip to Grand Canyon, the way most of the vacation planners do. It makes perfect sense for people to include Grand Canyon whether you fly or drive from wherever you are - as the attraction is nearby, amazing and one of the natural wonders. We chose to fly the Canyons owing to time crunch; also thought it would be a different experience to have an aerial view of the wonder. Indeed it was different! Several tours operate from Las Vegas and offer a variety of tours - air, helicopter, bus, boat, SUV and combo tours. We chose Air/Bus combo. Most of the tour operators are like agents to one main airline - Scenic Air. The flights are good - have 9 seater and 16 seater and all have large windows for better views. The flight flew through Hoover Dam, Colorado River and headed to South Rim of the Canyon. Hoover Dam is one of the Modern Wonder for the huge construction. It stands more than 700 feet tall built across the river Colorado that flows for about 1400 miles. Great view to see the dam and the river from the flight. As we approached Grand Canyon, it was like a thrill ride - as the canyons were so deep (4000 ft) - beware if you have fear of heights - you will be scared for sure. The Canyons looked so huge, long, deep and shining in red - what an experience! The bus at Grand Canyon took us for a buffet, and two attractions - a vantage point to get some stunning views of the Canyon and to a popular hotel and souvenir shop. Although the trip was good and enjoyable - in spite of spending very less time (just 2 1/2 hrs) - it would have been more fun had we did some trekking - to see and feel the nature closer. Worth visiting. Really! |
