INCLINE RAILWAY - CHATTANOOGA

This was the third attraction told as part of the three in Chattanooga area. Although not a great attraction, it deserves attention for the engineering marvel built at early 1900s.

View from inside the train

Incline Railway is about a railway track that was laid for more than a mile - what is special about this track? The track goes through an inclined way all along the Lookout Mountain. It is getting very interesting when the inclination reaches close to 75º.

The experience is kind of unique - first the train itself. It does not look the conventional way - the train goes backwards and you sit facing against the direction. The seats are inclined. So when the train moves you get an opportunity to see the railway track how its beautifully laid and the city viewed gradually from an elevation. The views - astounding.

View from the observation deck

Although the mile long travel is not like a roller-coaster - rather gradual - the steep lift deserves appreciation.

Once you reach the top, there is an observation deck from where you could watch Chattanooga and nearby area. Scene from the top.

To save some bucks, try buying a combo ticket with which you could visit all three attractions - Ruby Falls, Rock City and Incline Railway. All worth a visit!
