Ghayu and I before the Rock City Garden Mountain and Fall

ROCK CITY - TENNESSEE

Ghayu and I in needle point

The break during Christmas gave us 4 days - good enough to plan for a long drive. This time our areas of interests were Tennessee and Atlanta. Tennessee has lots of attractions - Lot of them are in Gatlinburg - Lost Sea in Sweetwater, Ruby Falls, Rock City, Incline Railway and Aquarium/IMAX in Chattanooga and few more in Pigeon Forge.

Visiting Chattanooga, we could cover three of the main attractions - the most enjoyable was Rock City Gardens. This attraction is so close

to Chattanooga and falls actually under Lookout Mountain and is part of Georgia.

I do not know why - may be the walking trail was excellent - may be the weather was perfect or may be we saw something bright and colorful after seeing something dark (Lost Sea Caves). The garden was out of rocks but looked green at various places. At places the rocks were close enough almost

touching each other but the trail was made through that - real test for obese people!

The hanging bridge connecting one mountain to another was another interesting part - although not to scare people who have acrophobia (fear of heights).

OK! Are you tired of climbing, rest for a while in Shelter Area - a clear roof formed under a rock naturally and beautifully!

All the way you go to the top to see one of a unique thing - watching seven states from one point. Yes, you see Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky and Alabama from this place. To my curious attempt tossing a quarter on the binoculars, I could see buildings in all the seven directions mentioned - I am not that aware to make out the states viewing through them :-)

While heading back, you see the famous view - the rock and the fall - not very impressive without much water :-( The return of any peak attraction usually is boring - but the Garden people made it attractive. Since the rocks had a cavern also as part of it, they made the cavern tell a story instead of just watching different formations - very different! The kids will enjoy - for sure!
