Ghayu and I before the colorful Ruby Falls

RUBY FALLS - CHATTANOOGA

There was lot of stories told about the attraction - a tall fall all inside a cavern that too in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was not disappointing to see the same.

It never rains in Ruby Falls - they claim. I don't know if they say it does not rain in the city as obviously it does not rain inside a cave :-)

The history behind the caverns is very interesting. (They showed a nice video about this) The cavern was found out incidentally when railway lines were planned through the Lookout Mountain.

You take an elevator to reach to the bottom of the cavern. It is around 60 degrees all around the clock inside the cavern. Not only the fall is tall over 1000 feet but also the cavern length. It is so long and well spread. You see several types of formations inside - like an elephant foot or like frozen mini Niagara or Arabian drapery.

Every attraction will have a climax - the best of all. In this case, it is the actual falls. You reach the fall area where you got to really look above to see the tall fall. The fall though not wide or dense, was a good thing to watch for two reasons - all the fall inside a cavern and such a tall fall. The vibrant colors need to be mentioned. It adds special effects to the falling water adding new dimensions. Amazing feeling!

Thanks to the enthusiast who bought this land and dug the rocks and his wife Ruby to get the fall name.
