SEATTLE

It was a planned trip to Seattle when we had visited our friends in Portland, Oregon. It took around 3 hrs by car to go reach Seattle from Portland. Though it was drizzling in the morning on the way (FYI, it rains 9 months in a year in Seattle).

The first stop was for for brunch at the Indian Restaurant. The lunch buffet was sumptuous for the price.

Boeing's Museum of Flight was our top place of interest. The museum was splendid with variety of airplanes - small, medium and big. The history of plane building could be seen in detail. We could even see prototypes of the first few airplanes that were built by Wright brothers. Excellent collection.

Alas! There could have been more details on the plane parts inside and outside to make it more interactive and interesting. For my curious mind, black box was one such thing I wanted to see - how it looks and functions. Although there was no exhibit, one retired pilot explained me the same in detail. He mentioned that we could see only in Chicago if one wants to see the same. (FYI, the museum has all retired pilots to explain things around)

The best of the museum was the old Air Force One plane used by President Kennedy and few others. It was an exhibit for the public and we could get into the plane and see what all amenities they have. Some of the features expect real intelligence to work with. Good time spent! When I checked recently, I see that the exhibit has a Concorde from British Airways. Will visiting that not be cool?

Our next stop was Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. The place was real crowded and we could see shops - ranging from groceries to sweets - in multiple floors. It was neither clean nor impressive for outsiders to appreciate.

The next target was Space Needle - one of the best attractions of Seattle. While heading to this, we saw a place on the way that made us stop by and spend few minutes. The giant buildings in odd shapes were the result of exemplary creativity. All buildings were reflecting light and so added further effect. I could not stop imagining myself with Ghayu. Also were the stripes of woods behind these buildings. Pure work of art!

The Best of all was the trip by Monorail through the Seattle Downtown. The track is well laid to go through all tall and beautiful buildings. It was a visual retreat to travel through in the night. Never miss taking this train when you visit Seattle.
